Fundable Blueprint - Live Virtual Session, October 24 | Willie Finklin

Build It Fundable From Day One

Before you build the nonprofit, know what is worth building. The Fundable Blueprint is a live four-hour virtual working session for founders and business owners who want to build a nonprofit that is structured intentionally, aligned with documented community need, and positioned to attract funding, sponsors, partners, and contracts.

This is not another nonprofit webinar. You will work through your own idea in real time, live on Zoom.

The real problem

Filing is the easy part

Most new nonprofits do not stall because the founder lacked passion or the idea lacked merit. They stall because the organization was built around what the founder wanted to do instead of a documented community need, a clear program model, and a funding strategy that matches the work.

By the time that becomes clear, the entity may already be formed, fees have been paid, a board has been seated, and changing direction costs far more than it would have at the start.

Grants are the result of readiness, not the starting point.

Inside the session

Three segments. Four hours. You leave with a working blueprint.

Bring your idea. Bring your questions. Bring your workbook. The session is built around application, not passive listening, so join from a laptop or desktop where you can work alongside the room.

Segment One

The Decision

50 min

What is this thing, what does it do for what I already have, and what does it demand from me?

  • What a nonprofit actually is, and why grants are often not the first money a new nonprofit should expect to receive.
  • How a nonprofit can fit alongside an existing business, training operation, workforce initiative, or other community-facing work.
  • The responsibilities that come with nonprofit status, including governance, filings, public disclosure, recordkeeping, and fiduciary duty.
  • Which vehicle may fit best: a 501(c)(3), fiscal sponsorship, a program under an existing organization, or another structure.

Segment Two

The Alignment

50 min

Is this built around what I want to do, or around what the community can document?

  • Your calling versus documented community need.
  • How to define who you serve with the specificity funders expect.
  • How to turn an idea into an actual program model.
  • A live pass through the alignment questions that expose where an idea is strong, unclear, or difficult to fund.

Segment Three

The Money

90 min

Where does the money actually come from, and what has to be true before any of it moves?

  • Five core revenue streams we will examine: individual giving, sponsorships, earned revenue, grants, and government contracts.
  • Why the funding source you walked in thinking about may be the furthest away.
  • How nonprofit founders and leaders can be compensated appropriately, and what has to be documented.
  • The trust signals funders look for before they ever decide your proposal is worth serious consideration.

Included with every seat

The Fundable Founder Workbook + Pre-Work. These materials will be released on October 17, one week before the live session, so you can capture your decisions, questions, program ideas, funding assumptions, and next steps before, during, and after the workshop.

What you receive

Your $297 registration includes

  • The live four-hour Fundable Blueprint session on October 24, delivered virtually on Zoom.
  • Your Zoom access link, emailed to you before the session.
  • Open Q&A and live application throughout the session.
  • The Fundable Founder Workbook.
  • Pre-work released October 17.
  • Workshop worksheets and supporting resources.
  • Post-workshop notes and resource access inside The Fundable Collective.
  • The opportunity to add implementation or formation support if you decide you do not want to build everything alone.

Why this first

Strategy before paperwork

The goal is not to rush you into forming an organization. The goal is to help you understand what you are building before you start paying filing fees, recruiting a board, writing grants, or designing programs around assumptions that have not been tested.

You may leave October 24 ready to move. You may leave ready to move differently. You may decide you need more research before you file anything. All three can be good outcomes if they save you time, money, and unnecessary rebuilding.

Willie Finklin has spent more than 15 years helping nonprofit leaders turn vision into organizations that are structured, fundable, and built to last. His work spans more than $35 million in funding secured and hundreds of organizations navigating grants, readiness, governance, and growth.

The Fundable Blueprint is built from that same lens. The question is not simply, “How do I start a nonprofit?” It is whether the model makes sense, whether the need is documented, whether the structure can carry the work, and whether funders can see a credible reason to invest.

Build the funding reality into the organization before you build the organization around the idea.

Frequently asked questions

Is this in person or virtual?

Virtual. The Fundable Blueprint is delivered live on Zoom, so you can join from anywhere. Your access link is emailed to you before the session.

What do I need to participate?

A laptop or desktop, a stable internet connection, your workbook, and your idea. You can join from a phone, but you will get far more from the session on a larger screen where you can work alongside it.

Will there be a recording?

This is a live working session designed to be attended live, and a replay is not currently included. If October 24 does not work for you, join the notify list below and you will hear when the next session is scheduled.

Is this for people who have not formed a nonprofit yet?

Yes. In fact, the workshop is especially useful before formation because you can pressure-test the idea before committing to a structure.

What if I already incorporated?

You can still use the session to evaluate positioning, community alignment, program design, revenue strategy, and what needs to be corrected or strengthened next.

Do I need grant-writing experience?

No. This is about building the organization and funding logic that come before a grant proposal.

When do I get the workbook?

Your workbook and pre-work are scheduled for release on October 17, one week before the workshop.

Will there be additional support available?

Yes. Registered participants will have the opportunity to add formation or full implementation support. Those options are separate from the $297 registration.

What is your refund policy?

All Fundable Blueprint purchases are final and non-refundable, except where a refund or other remedy is required by applicable law.

Not ready to register?

Stay in the loop anyway

If October 24 does not work for you, leave your information and I will let you know when the next session is scheduled.

We will keep you informed and point you back to registration when you are ready.

You are on the list

Build the nonprofit with the funding reality in mind from day one

You do not need another checklist telling you to file paperwork. You need a clearer answer to what you are building, who it serves, why it matters, how it can be funded, and what should happen next.
